Sea Point Saw Grass Salt Marsh, just west of the Ferry Landing, was acquired in January 2003 from a private owner in a joint venture between the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the Town of Dauphin Island. ADCNR retains the Salt Marsh and the Town acquired the dry border of Bienville Blvd. for parking of boat trailers

This area is vital habitat for rails and small waders, providing over 35 acres of mostly wetland covered with black needle rush and cordgrass. The town plans to preserve the wetland and sensitively develop the dry areas.
